JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel selected as the Official Central Visayas Regional Coordinator for Creative Young Entrepreneurs Award
Junior Chamber International Cebu-Mactan Channel, through the efforts of 2008 President Jolex Yu Lim and National Projects Commissioner Dennis Cabase was recently selected as the official Central Visayas Regional Coordinator for the search of the 2nd Creative Young Entrepreneurs Award.
CYEA is an international competition that recognizes the young leaders and entrepreneurs and the role of creativity in their success. With its theme "Shine! Standout to be the World's Most Creative Young Entrepreneur," CYEA will recognize young Filipino entrepreneurs for their innovation and fresh ideas. "We believe in the capacity and creativity of the 'new breed'," said JCI Mem. Ana Pista of JCI Cavite Magiting, deputy national chairman of this year's CYEA in a media briefing hosted by JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel at Chowking Redemptorist last May 2, 2008. Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines intends to inspire young entrepreneurs and motivate them through recognizing entrepreneurs of the same age range as JCI Members, and put in the limelight great ideas from ordinary people. Pista added that this contest is different from others because it aims to bring the best of the best entrepreneurs in the country, regardless of their financial status. The contest will highlight entrepreneurs who excelled in new product development, service development, marketing, solving business problems and changing process in a positive way. "The key is how they have tackled something in a fresh way, using their talent, imagination and ingenuity to drive their business enterprise." Pista added. JCI believes that the young ones are idealistic, positive and determined. Anyone can nominate an entrepreneur who they think has exerted creativity and made a difference in running the business. Twenty entrepreneurs from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will qualify for the competition. From the qualifiers, the top 10 will be selected. This will be trimmed to three, who will qualify for the international competition on Nov. 4-5, 2008 in New Delhi, India during the Junior Chamber International World Congress. Pista said that there will be no amount to be given to the winners, only a recognition and an all-expense paid trip for five days for the international competition. Pista added that she is confident that somebody from Cebu will make it to the top three and will represent the Philippines internationally. All nominations must be submitted using online nomination form on the JCI website at www.jci.cc/cyea or www.cyeaph.org Joining the members of JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel were members from the other Cebu-based JCI Chapters such as JCI Mandaue, JCI Metro Cebu Uptown and JCI Cebu. Earlier in the day, JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel accompanied Pista during a radio tour around the different stations in Cebu to further promote the objectives of CYEA. For more information, click here!
