The JCI Philippines is celebrating its nationwide Jaycee Week from April 13-19, 2008. As promulgated under Presidential Proclamation No. 96 s. 1999 entitled “Reaffirming Commitment and Support to the Philippine Jaycees, Inc. as National Partner in the Observance of the 3rd Week of April as the National Jaycee Week Celebration” and also with Presidential Proclamation No. 97 s. 1999 entitled “Declaring the Third Week of April of Every Year as “National Jaycee Week”. The said activity was formally launched last April 13, 2008 after the 2nd Regular NB Meeting in Baguio City highlighted with a motorcade around the city. It was attended by members of the National Board under the leadership of NP Rip Lesaca. With them are the officers and members from different LOMs from Area 1, 2 and 3 led by JCI Baguio and JCI Baguio Sunflower during the celebration of said affair. A traditional Igorot tribal dance was also presented by the host LOM JCI Baguio, Inc. as a means of seeking divine guidance for a fruitful celebration during its pre-launching program last April 12, 2008 followed by the motorcade and mass on Sunday April 13, 2008 signaled the opening of said week long affair.
As part of the regular annual activities of the national organization (NOM), this weeklong celebration will focus on giving flesh and meaning to the Jaycee Creed. It also aims to create public awareness of the JCI Organization and the importance of its projects that promoted the purpose of Junior Chamber International and its commitment to the community and the nation. The said activity also gives the opportunity for all JCI Philippines members and their families appreciates what the JCI members are doing for the organization and to the community they belong. The celebration will also serve as an instrument in the promotion of the JCI Philippines in line with its thrust of this year “Active Citizenship” and Making Things Better” to go along with JCI’s Theme “Be Better” on all the undertakings.
Through its 150 local chapters nationwide are oblige to implement the different specific events and projects on said week long celebration and synchronize their activities with Jaycee Creed of the organization. The objective of which was to create more impact on said activities that are undertaken as outlined by its National Chairman JCI Mem. Rodrigo “Bong: Magsino, Jr. of JCI Baguio, Inc. All LOMs enjoined themselves in its promotion for the said event thru Radio, TV and print media and motorcade during its simultaneous launching. Other activities undertaken are Sports and Family Activities, membership recruitment, Fellowships, Entrepreneurial Seminars, Symposiums, Public Speaking, Literary Arts, Debates and Oratorical Contest, Adventure or Fun Run and environmental projects like tree planting, solid waste management, also on health care awareness and other projects. Chapters are also enjoined to tie up with Local Government Units in their respective communities and to private sectors to add more perks with said celebration. In the Central Visayas Region, activities were kicked off by the Opening Mass at the St. Joseph Shrine of Mandaue City and the JCI Motorcade around Cebu City as hosted by JCI Mandaue last April 13 It was then followed by the opening of the JCI Exhibit at Robinsons Place Cebu as hosted by JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel last April 14 and a Regional New Members' Orientation was held at the AVR of the Aboitiz Group of Companies.
