Spreading our advocacy 2007 President Angelo Daniel Parcon is invited by the Ateneo Graduate School of Business- Ateneo de Manila University (Cebu Campus) CEBU CITY, Philippines (January 24, 2010) Heeding the invitation of a colleague, JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel Past President Angelo Daniel Parcon attended the last day of classes of the students of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business at the Cebu Holdings Building to share with them the programs done by Junior Chamber International when it comes to health care in Cebu City.
He was invited by his colleague, Mariann Greatyl Silud to speak in front of the class of Ateneo professor Mars Balgos. He also took the opportunity of introducing the advocacy that defines Junior Chamber International to the students, who were well within JCI age, which elicited interest at the possibility of being part of the movement.
The forum focused on the Public Health situation in the Philippines on a national, regional and local level. After a presentation made by the Department of Health, PP Angelo followed it up with a presentation about the efforts being made by Non-Governmental Organizations that would help alleviate any public health problem that has been plaguing the region of late.
He informed the students of the commitment of the organization in creating programs that would benefit not only the members but also the community to which the local organization is connected with. JCI Philippines also has the same passionate drive to encourage its member local organizations to create such programs, so much that an Outstanding Public Health Program is part of the Temiong National Awards that is being handed out each JCI Phils. National Convention.
In the end, Past President Gelo aimed to serve as an inspiration to the students that no matter how small their contribution can be in promoting programs for public health, these are still efforts to create positive change and as long as it can be sustained and in one way would help those who truly need it, the effort is well worth it.
