President Marlon attends 1st Area Council Meeting

2010 President Marlon Ariel L. Polinar represents JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel in JCI Philippines’ first official meeting for Area IV - Visayas

Ecotech Center, CEBU CITY, Philippines (January 16, 2010) 2010 President Marlon Ariel Polinar, in one of his first official functions as head for JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel, attended the JCI Philippines 1st Area Council Meeting presided over by Area Vice President Jonathan Calvara of JCI Candahug Liberation and hosted by JCI Cebu.

Presidents from among the active local organization in the Visayas Area, particularly those from the Eastern and Central Visayas Region also attended the meeting, which was also organized to coincide with the Sinulog festival celebrations in the Queen City of the South.  Assisting Calvara were Christopher Camba of JCI Cebu and RJ Baclay of JCI Catbalogan Balud, Regional Vice Presidents for the Central and Eastern Visayas Regions respectively.

The Area Council Meeting served as a conduit for the National Organization to funnel information and directives that were decided upon during the National Board Meeting which was conducted the week before at the JCI Philippines Headquarters in Quezon City, Philippines.  It served as a reunion of sorts for President Marlon’s batchmates, nicknamed the “Mangrove Batch”, during the Presidents’ Academy during the 61st JCI Philippines National Convention at Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Immediate Past Area Vice President (office formerly named National Executive Vice President) for the Visayas, Carlo Pontico Fortuna, the Vice Mayor of Mandaue City, was also in attendance to lend his support to his successor.  Also in attendance were guest Presidents from JCI Philippines local organizations from Central Davao, Manileña and Makati Princess Urduja.  President Marc Phua of JCI Mandaue, was nicknamed “Big Brother” by his batchmates after acting as host to his fellow Presidents in offering his house as their official residence during their stay for the Sinulog festivities.

A day later, during the Sinulog festival parade, the Presidents proceeded to ride on the official float entry of JCI Metro Cebu Uptown as they enjoyed the hospitality and the camaraderie of members from the Cebu local organizations.
