'4-PEAT as No. 1 JCI Chapter'

Best JCI PresidentMANDAUE CITY (05 September 2009) -- Junior Chamber International (JCI) CEBU-MACTAN CHANNEL (Philippines) is again the Outstanding JCI Chapter of the Year in the Visayas for four consecutive years now.

"4-PEAT," members proudly cried tonight at the Benedicto College social hall in this city for the annual awards during the 29th Visayas Area Conference.

And so were the sent and passed-on SMS.

The 4-year-old JCI local organization also raked in five other major awards, including one for 2009 President Emi Rose "MM" R. Parcon, as 2009 Outstanding President of the Year.

The chapter also stood No. 6 in JCI Philippine Efficiency Awards (JCIPEA) among local organizations in Area IV garnering  131 points.

The six 2009 major awards include:

  • Outstanding JCI Local Organization of the Year (Category 3)

  • Outstanding JCI Local Organization President of the Year (Category 3)

  • Best Individual Development Program
for the “Furthering the Next Step” Program
  • Best Education for Peace Program
for the “Read to Lead” Project
  • Best United Nations Millennium Development Program
for the “Bridging The Gap” Project
  • Best JCI Local Organization Website
for this online portal – www.jcicebumactanchannel.com
President MM received the awards with the seven other JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel delegates to the 29th Visarcon, including:

  • Treasurer Iris Vera L. Petralba
  • Business Development Commissioner Ryan Expeditus C. Andales

  • LIFE Exec Dir Lorelei "Mai-Mai" M. Dasmariñas, CNT
Best JCI Chapter

BEST CHAPTER. President MM receives the tropy from NEVP-Visayas Carlo Pontico C. Fortuna for the 2009 Outstanding JCI Local organization of the Year Award with LIFE ED Maimai Dasmariña, PP Gelo Parcon, AVP Rose Alvarado, Treasurer Iris Petralba and BDC Ryan Andales.

Best Chapter

"I'm so proud that the benchmark we started has been kept by the succeeding leaders of our chapter," remarked the founding Charter President Cerwin T. Eviota, CNT (NG).

The chapter was the Outstanding New JCI Local Organization of the Year in the Visayas in 2006 under the leadership of the charter president, and earned the merit for the same award category in the national level.

Past President Gelo steered the chapter in the following year to be adjusted as the 2007 Outstanding Local Organization of the Year in the Visayas, then last year under the watch of Immediate Past President Jolex Yu Lim, CLT.

Like IPP Jolex, the charter president earned the merit for Outstanding JCI Chapter President during the 2006 Cebu AreaCon even in its maiden year and earned the recognition for the same award during the 2006 Subic National Convention.

PP Gelo earned the major award for the same category during the 2007 Catbalogan AreaCon, and again now by his wife, the incumbent president.

She led the chapter while working as a nocturnal manager for internet marketing operations for Traffic Support, a business process outsourcing company, and while having to nurture her early grader son, Dain Angelo "Dindin."

Other major awards

6 Major AwardsJCI Cebu-Mactan Channel has since its birth been giving prime to the individual development of its members, and has since been an award-winning program for nthe chapter. Earning the major award again in 2009 affirms such focus.

The “Read to Lead” project earned the Best Education for Peace Award for two years in a row in the area level and earned the national award last year in Dipolog.

6 TROPHIES. The delegates to the 29th Visarcon show the haul.

Started in December 2007 by the incumbent president as project chair, it was pursued to expand the breadth and depth of the knowledge, skills and perspective of public elementary school children by inculcating to them the love for reading.

The chapter pursued "Bridging The Gap" with Omnilogy International last December to bridge the gaps of people separated by race, economic stature and education, a purpose that fits well the millenium goals of the United Nations.

It kicked off with START 'EM activities, then followed by a "A Christmas Tribute" and "A Christmas Moment." (Kindly click the links for details ... c",)

Meanwhile, this online portal, by its dynamic and “always fresh” contents, its journalistic approach as well as its neat and organized presentation, would no doubt earn the 2009 Best JCI Local Organization Website for two years now.

The judges noted that this site -- www.jcicebumactanchannel.com – served well its purposes to communicate the value to and create value not only for the chapter but for JCI Philippines and JCI itself as a movement.

This has expanded the awareness of the chapter’s activities, and has provided the organization with an effective marketing and income-generating tool.

JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel submitted 10 bids for the eAwards system of the national organization for the 2009 Visarcon.
