Junior Chamber International Cebu-Mactan Channel, the 2007 Most Outstanding JCI Chapter in the Visayas, in partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross, McDonald’s and SM City Cebu will hold the second edition of the JCI BLOOD DRIVE this coming March 8, 2008 at SM City Cebu from 10AM to 5PM.

The project aims to raise awareness in the community with regards to the importance of the public’s involvement in the efforts of the Red Cross to provide vital supplies of blood to those who are in need and in emergency situations.

According to JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel President Jolex Yu Lim, the Blood Drive also seeks “to inculcate in the public knowledge the health benefits that blood donation can imbue in one’s physical conditions”. This year’s Blood Drive is open to the public and walk-in volunteers including the Philippine National Police and University of Cebu.

the partnership between the Phil. National Red Cross and JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel started last year, when then newly-inducted Secretary General for the chapter, JCI Mem. Marlon Ariel Polinar, a pharmacist and instructor for Cebu Doctor's University chaired the first JCI Blood Drive efforts.  The first Blood Drive produced a database of blood types for the chapter which would prove useful in times of immediate need not only for the members but for the JCI community at large.

Chaired by newly-inducted JCI Mem. Ruwen Sinugbuhan, the project is also an advocacy program by the chapter to address the alarmingly dwindling supplies of blood units for the Philippine National Red Cross.  This is in follow-up to the chapter's first JCI Blood Drive in March of last year.  This is part of the organization's thrust in promoting one of JCI's most important tenets in the JCI Creed which is 'Service to humanity is the best work of life'.

The JCI Blood Drive will be conducted by volunteer personnel from the Phil. National Red Cross and JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel. The venue is located at the 2nd Floor Bldg C of the SM City Cebu Main Mall, between Planet Exchange and Makan. In addition to the Blood Drive, a JCI exhibit will also be conducted at the area detailing the achievements and awards of JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel from 2005 to the present.

Volunteer donors are encouraged to join the activity as well as those who consider their health to be a premium in their respective lives.
