Life changing experiences Vol. 1, No. 1 * 25 Octopber 2008 By JCI Mem. CERWIN T. EVIOTA, CNT, NG 2006 Charter President This is not about standpoints that change from time to time. This blog tackles on points of view that change people to be better. It’s about life-changing thoughts and experiences. They may be my thoughts about creating positive changes through the four areas of opportunities that develop one’s S.E.L.F., but it can also be a sharing about others’ experiences that we reflect on. Interestingly, the first letters of this blog title happens to stand for the initials of the opportunity we have had in the history now of this JCI local organization.
Overwhelming week What a week has this been? Days passed so quickly yet the happenings seem to have run for a month. Beyond our celebration for the awesome three years we have had as a chapter, the 60 fruitful years of JCI in the Philippines, and in giving honor to our first national president, the week was marked with milestones. They may not yet appear as milestones now but in time my guts tell me they will be recognized as such. And I am referring to the outcome of the courtesy call of our incoming President MM to two key uniformed generals in our country’s armed organizations in -- the PNP and the AFP -- in Cebu. By plan, the activity was meant as an exercise of giving flesh to the 4th tenet of our JCI Creed, to fill up what must be a complete JCI Week. And I had the privilege to serve as chauffeur for our beloved upcoming President MM with what for me is another discovery among our new breed of members who are packed with awesome potentials, Daphne Diane Estorninos, who arranged the visits. The casual interactions with PNP Chief Supt. Ronald D. Roderos of PRO-7 at Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr. and Air Force Lt. Gen. Pedro Ike I. Inserto of the AFP Central Command at Camp Lapulapu yielded fruitful and exciting ideas, potential high-projects that will certainly promote JCI. We could not yet share openly here these ideas as we would not want to preempt the survey and analysis stages that our members will do to explore them further. But I would say they strongly stand on the JCI brand, the JCI Vision for peace and the JCI Mission to create positive change. I feel they will generate life changing experiences. Substance We commend VP Marlon Polinar and the members who worked with him in organizing our special JCI Week with essence and real substance ... and with so much GUSTO!!! Yes, I doff my hat to incoming secretary Mariecor Araneta for her role in JCI ACHIEVE, no wonder it was only you NVP Barbie awarded from among those who prepared the activities of the regional JCI Week last April. Then to ASG Iris Petralba for the fellowship and renewal of commitment we had with our mother chapter; to our JCI Baby member Jeffjohn Navarro for the business seminar, again Daphne for the courtesy calls, incoming PRO Joni Ocular for our Grand NeMO and incoming IAC Eric “Cute” Abella for our strat-planning this weekend. Keep the fire burning, Dudes! The Delta Batch Our Grand NeMO produced 15 aspiring members. I had a great time interacting with them. I’m sure the officers manning their respective stations also felt the same. Much more to the selected few themselves, the new aspirants. To our newbies, yes you are a selected few. We have actually stopped recruiting, as we have started selecting for fresh members, even upon recruitment, much more during your probationary time. To all of you, WELCOME!
