Chapter Training Force Leadership Training for the UC Junior Jaycees 

The JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel Chapter Training Force recently held a Leadership Training Seminar for the Officers of the University of Cebu Junior Jaycees.  This was upon the request of 2007 JCI C-MC Vice President for Development JCI Mem. Lloyd A. Bantiling, who also serves as a UC-JJC Adviser.  The whole-day activity was held at the Audio-Visual Center of the University of Cebu Maritime Training Center in Mambaling Cebu City last August 9, 2008.

Leading the way of the Chapter Training Force was 2008 JCI Asia Pacific's Most Outstanding JCI Trainer Lorelei 'Maimai' M. Dasmariñas, a Certified National Trainer of JCI University and JCI C-MC Secretary General Emi Rose S. R. Parcon, a recent JCI Trainer Signature Course Graduate.  Further lending support were PRIME Graduates JCI Mem. Iris Vera L. Petralba and JCI Mem. Ryan Expeditus C. Andales.  JCI Presenter Course Graduates JCI Baby Joni Ocular and JCI Mem. Nhize Aguitong were also present to conduct the training for the youth arm of the JCI Movement.

The Training Modules made by Maimai focused on the importance of Strategic Leadership.  The various modules focused on many aspects and important essantials that is needed to really be a leader in the JCI movement.  The problem of maintaining and keeping the passion in the members has been a common problem in the Junior Jaycees these past years.  Cebu-Mactan Channel, who has several members coming from the Junior Jaycees is very determined to assist them to end this alarming trend.  We hope to achieve this with a constant training regimen and guidance when they ask us to do so.  It is in the Junior Jaycees where you will find the most passionate of members when they decide to elevate their ranks into the regular JCI members.

The Chapter Training Force discussed various aspects on Leadership such as:
1.  Naked Leadership - Developing awareness and a Leadership's Bare Essentials
2.  Team Skills - How to understand people and how to work well with others
3.  The Heart of a Leader - How to make communication work and how to speak with a heart
4.  Power and Authority - My role as a Leader and the various Leadership Styles
5.  Creating a Vision - Strategic Planning and putting balance into a chapter's programs
6.  Taking Charge - How to manage it like a Pro and how to make meetings work
7.  Evaluation

The Junior Jaycees were led by their President in Florence Edsarson Paras.  The JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel vowed to the Junior Jaycees that whenever they needed training and whenever they needed guidance, they will always be there.  This is but the first of several training sessions that JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel will conduct for the various Junior Jaycee chapters in Cebu.  We believe that for us to further inculcate the values of the JCI movement, we must also empower our JCI youth.
