2009 President EMI ROSE R. PARCON is the 2009 Most Outstanding JCI Chapter President in the Visayas, awarded during the 29th JCI Philippines Visayas Area Conference. This is the 4th straight year a President of this chapter received the honor.
Exactly twenty-five years
ago today, I lost my father to cardiac arrest. His first, and unfortunately his last.I was seven years old then and words could not describe the grief and
anguish that I had to go through in the first few days realizing that I won’t
be seeing him anymore.
Being second to the
youngest, I was quite close to my dad. There
was a time when our mom would be the one who’d accompany my older brothers and
sister when they’d visit our mom’s hometown in Butuan City.It was just my dad, my younger brother and I who
was left in Cebu. One of my fondest
memories with him was when the three of us would hear mass at the Redemptorist
Church, had ice cream cones at Coney Island and finally he’d take us and buy us
as many comic books as we wanted on Sundays.

The National Convention: Re-Discovering the Essence of JCI
Vol. I, No. 06* 27 September 2009
By JCI Sen. REGINALD T. YU, ITFTrainer, Inspirational Speaker and Author, Communicator
After immensely enjoying an almost seven-month reprieve from writing, a text message from my former training coach and friend, (Charter President) Cerwin Eviota, suddenly sent shivers up my spine one recent morning and requested me to continue my column for the JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel website – which was due that evening! Due to my increasing commitments with family, work, and other organizations (Yes, I STILL have a life after JCI), I was determined to decline the offer.
Nevertheless, since it was “THE BIG BOSS” who made that sheepish request, I had to finally acquiesce. So, here I am again, dusting off my keyboard and cranking up those old synapses for another round of “Table Talk.” But let me caution my eager “fans” (ay, meron ba?) that my presence in this great website shall be erratic, at best, as I am now finding it extremely hard to juggle my priorities… let alone write a column.
The accolades and successes that our JCI Local Organization have received these past few years would never have been possible without the fire and passion that our members have exhibited in everything we do. From the very beginning we stood by and lived by the teachings of the JCI Creed. This video exemplifies the simple joys that one can have by becoming a JCI member. We present to you our video entitled "Fellowship".

It’s been awhile since I wrote my last piece here. This has been due to my work responsibilities as well as focusing on various tasks and duties helping in my little ways the cause of our local organization’s programs. And there’s also family time.Nevertheless, here I am again!A week from now, we will again celebrate and congregate as JCI members as we gather for our respective Area Conferences. From Area 1 to Area 5, brotherhood will once again be the focus of our proud organization.
As we approach these momentous events, we also have to buckle down and focus on one of the more important aspects that make our organization a premier example in what should be the true practice of democracy and leadership: our National Elections. It is during this time where we will, as members of JCI Philippines, take into our hands and chart the course we want to take.

You’ve probably heard it told so many times... especially by old folks. I myself have heard it told many times over from generation to generation… according to urban legends… when one’s birthday draws near, one usually experiences extra ordinary things happening all at the same time.
Today is my birthday… the 5th day of the 5th Month of the year. But twelve days ago, I had firsthand experience to what my ancestors have been telling me… extra ordinary things happening all at the same time prior to my birthday. And mind you I have mixed emotions about it.
Extra ordinary things…
I finally experienced how it felt to become a millionaire!
