They found him in the run-down, fifth storey condominium building located at a government-funded housing compound for policemen one Thursday afternoon, the eighth of July to be exact. The unit, held under the name of his younger brother --- a police colonel of the Northern Police District --- is situated at the Pamayanang Diego Silang Village in Barangay Unusan, Taguig City, not far from the upscale denizens of the ritzy Fort Bonifacio Global City.

Sprawled face down on the floor, soaked in his own blood, with a kitchen knife still lodged deep in his right abdomen, the nauseating backdrop confirmed his mother's worst suspicions when countless attempts to reach him went unanswered for days. Crime scene investigators placed the approximate period of death to be early Monday morning, July the fifth --- based on the body's advanced stage of decomposition.

The JCI LiveMap site

Having a 24-hour internet connection at home has its perks and incredible privileges.  I know because I have one.  Aside from being able to be connected with friends at any time of the day (provided I’m home) via Facebook, lurking around twitter and multiply, chatting with people several countries away, one also has the privilege of having access to virtually anything that’s on the internet.

When I was a Junior Jaycee during my collegiate years, it was common knowledge amongst members during the conduct of Area Conferences and National Conventions, there is always an open invitation to stay longer (post AreaCon and NatCon) past the appointed duration of the gathering (much to the chagrin of our parents).  It was but natural that as students, well most of us were (then), what amount of cash or resources we brought to these out of town sorties..er..gatherings were measured to a T on how long we were staying.  Extending our stay not only meant we’d be out of cash for the rest of the duration but we had to find ways to fulfill our designated three meals a day target.

Letting the new members shine

Vol. 2, No. 2 * January 7, 2010

By JCI Mem. ANGELO DANIEL R. PARCON
2007 President

Exactly twenty-five years ago today, I lost my father to cardiac arrest.  His first, and unfortunately his last.  I was seven years old then and words could not describe the grief and anguish that I had to go through in the first few days realizing that I won’t be seeing him anymore.

Being second to the youngest, I was quite close to my dad.  There was a time when our mom would be the one who’d accompany my older brothers and sister when they’d visit our mom’s hometown in Butuan City.  It was just my dad, my younger brother and I who was left in Cebu.  One of my fondest memories with him was when the three of us would hear mass at the Redemptorist Church, had ice cream cones at Coney Island and finally he’d take us and buy us as many comic books as we wanted on Sundays.

It was simply devastating losing him like that.

The National Convention: Re-Discovering the Essence of JCI

Vol. I, No. 06  *  27 September 2009

After immensely enjoying an almost seven-month reprieve from writing, a text message from my former training coach and friend, (Charter President) Cerwin Eviota, suddenly sent shivers up my spine one recent morning and requested me to continue my column for the JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel website – which was due that evening! Due to my increasing commitments with family, work, and other organizations (Yes, I STILL have a life after JCI), I was determined to decline the offer.

Nevertheless, since it was “THE BIG BOSS” who made that sheepish request, I had to finally acquiesce. So, here I am again, dusting off my keyboard and cranking up those old synapses for another round of “Table Talk.” But let me caution my eager “fans” (ay, meron ba?) that my presence in this great website shall be erratic, at best, as I am now finding it extremely hard to juggle my priorities… let alone write a column.

A Tribute to the Members

The accolades and successes that our JCI Local Organization have received these past few years would never have been possible without the fire and passion that our members have exhibited in everything we do.  From the very beginning we stood by and lived by the teachings of the JCI Creed.  This video exemplifies the simple joys that one can have by becoming a JCI member.  We present to you our video entitled "Fellowship".
